How does Roamkin verify renters and owners?

Accepted Answer

Every user completes a strict Know Your Customer (KYC) process before renting or listing a vehicle. Renters and owners submit a National ID or Passport, a Driving Licence where applicable, and a selfie for biometric matching. Vehicle listings additionally require administrator approval before they become publicly visible.

How do I book a vehicle?

Browse vehicles in our app, select your preferred dates and location, complete your KYC verification (a one-time process), and submit your booking request. Depending on the listing, you'll either receive an instant confirmation or await owner approval — typically within 2 hours. Once confirmed, coordinate your pickup or delivery directly with your host.

What's the difference between Instant Book and Request to Book?

Accepted Answer

Instant Book confirms your reservation immediately with no owner approval required. Request to Book sends your booking details to the owner, who must approve the reservation before it is confirmed. Each vehicle listing displays which option applies.

What happens if I need to cancel my trip?

Accepted Answer

Outside peak season, cancelling 60 or more days before the trip start date qualifies for a 100% refund, 30–59 days qualifies for a 50% refund, and cancellations inside 30 days are not refunded. During peak season (December, Easter, and August), the same tiers apply at 90, 60, and under 60 days respectively. See our Refund Policy for full details.

What happens if a host cancels my confirmed booking?

Owners are held to a strict three-strike policy: a warning after the first cancellation, a final warning after the second, and automatic account suspension after the third. Renters always receive a 100% refund for any owner-initiated cancellation, regardless of timing.

How and when am I charged?

Accepted Answer

Payment is processed through Paynow when your booking is confirmed, by card or Mobile Money (EcoCash). You are never charged before the booking is confirmed, and the vehicle owner is paid after the trip rather than upfront.

How do vehicle owners receive their payouts?

Accepted Answer

Owners add a bank account or Mobile Money number in the host dashboard, and earnings from a completed trip are settled to it. Roamkin retains a service fee to cover platform operations, which is shown in the price breakdown on every booking.

Is insurance included in my rental?

Accepted Answer

Roamkin does not sell its own cover. Every host must supply a current insurance certificate for their vehicle, and our team verifies the provider, policy number and expiry date before the listing is published. What that policy covers is set by the host and their insurer, so confirm the terms directly with the host — you can message them from the vehicle page — before your trip begins.

How are vehicle damage claims resolved?

Roamkin uses digital check-in and check-out photo submission for every trip. If damage occurs, renters and owners can file a report with supporting photos directly in the app, and our team reviews the timestamped evidence to resolve claims quickly and fairly. Our support team targets a 24-hour initial response for all damage claims.

Can I manage my car if I live outside the country?

Yes. Many Roamkin owners live abroad while their vehicle earns for them at home. A dedicated remote-access view gives you real-time, read-only visibility into bookings, trip status, and payouts, so a trusted local contact can handle day-to-day operations if you choose.

What are the requirements to list my vehicle?

Accepted Answer

Your vehicle must be in roadworthy condition and pass our 100-point inspection checklist. You'll need to provide vehicle registration documents, at least 6 high-quality photos, and complete your KYC verification. All listings are reviewed and approved by our admin team before going live on the platform.
